Introducing the World Map Revival!

As most are aware, Orient is reproducing and re-releasing many vintage models as a part of their 70^th Anniversary celebration. We are pleased to announce that the Revival Collection is growing with the addition of the Orient World Map watch.

The Orient World Map was first released in 1969 and got its name from the map that was illustrated on the dial. It bore the TriStar emblem as well as “World Diver” at the bottom. As with the rest of the Revival Collection, Orient got as close to a 1:1 reproduction as it could. This Revival model features the map on the dial, the inner rotating bezel, fluted outer bezel, and day and date functionality, and polished cushion case. Noticeably different however is the day pusher at the three o’clock position. Because this newly reissued model uses the Orient Caliber F6922 movement, the crown is used to set the day and the date.

It is important to note that the World Map was never a GMT, Dual Time or World Time watch. If it were, that would require the inner bezel to move in conjunction with the time as it moved forward. Instead, the World Map watch utilizes the simplicity of a free-moving bezel to find the time in a different part of the world. With the assistance of the Greenwich Mean Time Zone system (GMT) and a little bit of geography, the wearer can determine the time in a different zone by rotating the inner bezel.

The watch measures in at 43.5mm with a thickness of 13.9mm.  True to the original, it features a domed mineral crystal and polished case. It features 200m water resistance as a nod to its “World Diver” roots. It is available in three new colors, including white with gold trim, metallic green and metallic blue. The model that bears the original color dial from 1969 is also available as a limited edition. It is limited to just 1,200 pieces worldwide. Each piece is individually numbered and each limited edition watch comes in a special commemorative box.
