'a watch with greater value than it's price' Review by Anthony Darmaputera

When I search a watch to replace my broken Seiko Criteria, I certainly looking for a durable yet nice looking watch. After made comparison study of many brand, my mind strongly attracted to this watch. I never heard Orient before, but so many positive reviews make me a comfortable feeling about this watch.

No need a second thought to decide to have it. The model, weight, and 'feel' is just right. It's an accurate time keeper also, and what surprised me is the price is just right!

To be concluded, it'S quality exceeds it's price! The only minor complaint is the lume. It will be a little problem to read time in the dark.

'a power watch on your wrist' Review by Joseph

A typical description of the watch is: Orient automatic self-wind mech watch, solid screw in case (no transparent metal back, with Orient glyph on it), 60 clicks counter-clockwise one-way bezel with 60 to 10 minute points and rest in 5 mins interval markings, water resistant to 200M with flat crystal front, plus date and day in three laguages.
With a mini button on 10' that I'm sure you did not noticed (or you never thought this would be for changing the day (!!) and not some helium valve or something like this)

This watch has a character. The weight is indeed serious, and you really know you're wearing a good watch (which, by the way, did not cost you a fortune). The phosphorous is quite bright on all minute markings as well as on the hands, which (except of the seconds one) have a characteristic pointing arrow ending that I'm in love with.

As stated above, the little button outside the watch (at 10') is being used to change the day (Monday, Tuesday etc..) and when I realised that I thought.. Oh !! Now every time I push the little sucker the day will change! But it proved that it is not in the way so the days are intact (actually, is much more handy rather than unscrewing the right button from the bezel and trying to understand how many millimeters exactly should be out to change the day.. ) The general look and feel of the watch is superb and you will definetely feel that you are wearing a 5000$+ watch - it is a good dress watch and I wouldn't recommend to wear it in diving, although the 200M mark is accurate.

As for type, the CEM75001B is a true Orient: solid stainless steel bracelet marked "Orient" (with the usual coat of arms of Orient), screwed down crown and screw caseback (6 points of contact). The metal of the watch is identical with the bracelet and is mat (not flashy silver-ish) which adds to the watch value. Diameter is 45mm and lug width is 22mm. Please note the dot on the seconds hand (the previous model has had a red arrow seconds hand that made it look sporty - this one is brilliantly match the hour and minute hands and makes it real eye candy)

Enjoy it!

'awesome watch' Review by Dennis

I love this watch - it is large, nicely heavy and masculine. it looks nice dressed formally and casually. My only complaint that you need to wear them every day or they will stop. I wish I could wear them at least every other day instead

'Excellent timepiece, great value!' Review by Gill

This review is from: Orient Men's Black Mako Automatic Dive Watch CEM75001B (Watch)
After reading many great reviews here (Mr. Kelleher) and on other watch sites, I Ordered the Orient Black Mako 2 or "Hogrider" as it is commonly referred to. I recently purchased a Citizen Eco Drive chronograph that is somewhat similar in appearance, but smaller. I wanted a second watch to wear around the house and do my chores in without the fear of scratching my Citizen. Kind of a "bang around" watch if you will. I had considered an Invicta, but the negative reviews steered me away.

Orient is not a popular or well known brand here, but I recall seeing them when I was stationed in Okinawa many moons ago. I didn't give this watch much thought then and did not even remotely consider one until now. Ironically, when I was doing research on the Invicta, it was compared to an Orient and my interest was sparked in this brand.

I also looked at a few cheaper models such as Armitron and Casio but wanted an automatic and a timepiece that would last a long time. Plus, having 2 watches which will never need batteries will be an added bonus. Not only can battery replacement get costly, but there is also the risk of not sealing the case properly. This happened with my last watch which was a Beringer Steel. It served me well, but unfortunately, water seeped in and I simply elected not to replace it with a similar model.

After searching many sites including the Orient USA site and Amazon, my decision was cemented.

I debated between the original Mako and the #2. It was a tough decision, but I elected the Hogrider. I love a watch with a large wrist presence and the #2 seemed to fit the bill. My initial fears were that this watch would be TOO huge, but upon arrival in the Orient box, my skepticism was put to rest. Additionally, the Mako's minimalist, yet rugged appearance hooked me. Plus, the Orient logo gives the watch a classy, yet subtle accent.

The band is 22mm, with solid links and the bezel is easy to turn. The piece is solid and built like a tank. My only gripe is the lume, and from reading various reviews around the boards, this is a common complaint with this model. Nonetheless, this alone should not deter you from purchasing this particular model.

In time, I will get the original Blue Mako.

If you are looking for a nice watch that is built well, this one will fit the bill. An incredible value and a watch that will serve you well for years to come.
