One could say that if Swiss watches are the equivalent of European luxury cars, then Orient is the equivalent of a Lexus. However, that would be unfair. This analogy would only be accurate if Lexus made cars that cost five times less than their European counterparts, had a more unique design, and had a 60 year history of distinctive craftsmanship and engineering. I recently bought the Maverick to replace a pretty but wildly inaccurate Stuhrling automatic. I could not be happier with my purchase!

The watch is large without being comically oversized like so many watches these days. It's very distinctive; I've never seen the same
design by another company. Most of the guys I work with wear mall-brand watches which all look alike - compared to them the Orient really stands out! The smooth sweep of the second hand instantly tells you this is an automatic watch, and the large date
window really catches the eye. Most importantly, it's accurate within a few seconds per day.

There's a reason why Orient watches are one of the few affordable brands truly respected by watch experts! Almost all other watches in this price range use either quartz movements, or generic low quality Chinese-made automatic movements (cough, Stuhrling.) Orient is one of the very few companies that builds the entire watch, with a high quality in-house automatic movement. This was my first Orient
purchase, but it will not be my last!
