Tissot is certainly a reputable company with a considerable handle on the niche of marketing swiss made watches constructed of fine materials at entry-level prices. The PRS-516 series does carry a higher price point than many of their products, yet it does offer first rate materials, build quality, and one of the most respected movements in horological history, the Valjoux ETA7750 (not, Valoux). That being said, when we compare the two watches several considerations stand out that make the Orient timepiece an exceptional value. Both watches are constructed of the same basic materials and craftsmanship; they are both stainless steel, water resistant to 100 meters, and have a sapphire crystal. There exist some differences in style, as well; whereas, the Tissot seems to offer a sportier and more edgy appearance, I find the Orient watch possesses a more elegant and timeless appeal. Certainly, the ETA 7750 has earned for itself a great reputation for reliability and quality, however, I find the fact that Orient uses a proprietary in-house movement in the CTD09003D a definite plus. These considerations taken together with the difference in price point definitely leads me in the direction of the Orient, so to speak. The fact that watches of this quality are available for the price of the CDT09003D amazes me, and remains one of the reasons I continue to come back to Orient time and time again.
